Seventeen years ago, I went through 19 hours of labor, unmedicated, to bring you into this world… and somehow, you’re still giving me pain 😅 but I wouldn’t trade a single moment of it for anything.

You were my first real experience of unconditional love after losing my mother.
And in so many ways, you helped heal parts of me that I didn’t even know were broken.

We’ve been through so much together.
Grown together.
Learned together.
Fought through things that could’ve broken us… but didn’t.

And now I get to watch you step into this next version of yourself,
maturing, evolving, preparing for your senior year…

And it’s a different kind of feeling being a mom to a 17-year-old.
Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it.

You mean more to me than you will probably ever fully understand.
Not just because you’re my son… but because of who you are.

My first love.
My greatest lesson.
My forever heart.

No matter how big you get, how far you go, or how life changes…

Every single word mattered.

There is something powerful about being reminded who you are by people who have watched your journey, the growth, the rebuilding, the resilience, the strength, the softness. Your love did not go unnoticed.

I am deeply grateful for community, for friendships that are intentional, and for the space to step into this year feeling supported and seen.

A special thank you to my nieces,Kenisha and Jade, for making sure I truly relaxed on my day. That may seem small to some, but to a woman who is used to carrying a lot… it meant everything.

I learned that growth doesn’t always look loud or visible.

Sometimes it looks like choosing peace over proving a point.

Sometimes it looks like releasing what no longer fits, even when it once felt like home.

Sometimes it looks like sitting by the window, letting the light remind you that clarity always comes…eventually.

I’ve learned that I don’t need to explain my evolution.

The people meant to walk with me will recognize the version of me that emerged from the quiet.

This season didn’t break me.
It refined me.

There’s something special about reconnecting with the people who hold pieces of your history, your laughter, and your heart.
